Description Preview
The vulnerability in OpenSSH versions 5.6 and earlier occurs when J-PAKE is enabled and the public parameters in the J-PAKE protocol are not properly validated. This flaw enables remote attackers to authenticate successfully without requiring knowledge of the shared secret, by manipulating values in each round of the protocol. This issue is related to CVE-2010-4252.
Overview
This vulnerability affects OpenSSH versions 5.6 and earlier when J-PAKE is enabled. By exploiting this flaw, remote attackers can bypass the need for the shared secret and authenticate successfully by sending manipulated values during the J-PAKE protocol.
Remediation
To remediate this vulnerability, users are advised to update their OpenSSH installations to a version that addresses this issue. It is recommended to upgrade to a version where the validation of public parameters in the J-PAKE protocol is properly implemented to prevent unauthorized authentication.
