Description Preview

The vulnerability in OpenLDAP 2.4.x before 2.4.24 allows remote authenticated users to bypass external-program authentication by sending an invalid password to a slave server in a master-slave configuration with a chain overlay and ppolicy_forward_updates.

Overview

This vulnerability affects OpenLDAP versions prior to 2.4.24 and can be exploited by authenticated users to bypass external-program authentication in a specific configuration scenario. By sending an invalid password to a slave server, attackers can circumvent authentication mechanisms.

Remediation

To remediate this vulnerability, users are advised to upgrade to OpenLDAP version 2.4.24 or later. By updating to the patched version, organizations can mitigate the risk of unauthorized access through the chain overlay authentication bypass issue.
