Description Preview

The CSecurityTLS::processMsg function in common/rfb/CSecurityTLS.cxx in the vncviewer component in TigerVNC 1.1beta1 does not properly verify the server's X.509 certificate, which allows attackers to perform man-in-the-middle attacks by spoofing a TLS VNC server using a crafted certificate.

Overview

This vulnerability in TigerVNC 1.1beta1 allows malicious actors to intercept and manipulate communications between a VNC client and server by presenting a fake TLS certificate, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive information or control over the VNC session.

Remediation

To remediate this vulnerability, users of TigerVNC 1.1beta1 should update to a patched version that includes proper validation of the server's X.509 certificate. It is recommended to upgrade to a newer version of TigerVNC that addresses this issue to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks.
