Multiple integer overflows were found in vclmi.dll in the visual class library module in IBM Lotus Symphony before version 3.0.1. These vulnerabilities could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by embedding a malicious JPEG or PNG image object in a Symphony document. This could trigger a heap-based buffer overflow, potentially leading to unauthorized code execution.
Overview
This vulnerability in IBM Lotus Symphony allows remote attackers to exploit integer overflows in the visual class library module, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution. The issue arises from handling embedded JPEG or PNG image objects in Symphony documents.
Remediation
To remediate this vulnerability, users are advised to update their IBM Lotus Symphony software to version 3.0.1 or later. By upgrading to the patched version, users can mitigate the risk of exploitation through embedded image objects triggering heap-based buffer overflows.
