Description Preview

ZNC 1.0 is affected by a vulnerability that enables remote authenticated users to trigger a denial of service condition by sending specially crafted requests to specific pages within the webadmin module (webadmin.cpp). This vulnerability results in a NULL pointer reference and subsequent crash of the application.

Overview

This vulnerability in ZNC 1.0 allows authenticated remote users to exploit the application by sending malicious requests to the editnetwork, editchan, addchan, or delchan pages in the webadmin module. By triggering a NULL pointer reference, attackers can cause the application to crash, leading to a denial of service condition.

Remediation

To address this vulnerability, users are advised to update their ZNC installation to a patched version that resolves the NULL pointer dereference issue. It is recommended to upgrade to a version of ZNC that includes the necessary security fixes to prevent remote attackers from exploiting this flaw.
