An issue was discovered in Alps Pointing-device Driver 10.1.101.207. The executable ApMsgFwd.exe permits the current user to map and write to the "ApMsgFwd File Mapping Object" section. This section is utilized as arguments to functions by ApMsgFwd.exe. When invalid pointers are written to this mapped section, it triggers a denial of service condition. This driver has been associated with Dell, ThinkPad, and VAIO devices.
