The Avamar Installation Manager in Dell EMC Avamar Server versions 7.3.1, 7.4.1, and 7.5.0, as well as Dell EMC Integrated Data Protection Appliance versions 2.0 and 2.1, is affected by a missing access control vulnerability. This vulnerability could potentially enable a remote unauthenticated attacker to access and modify the Local Download Service (LDLS) credentials. These credentials are crucial for connecting to Dell EMC Online Support. If the LDLS configuration is altered to an invalid setting, the Avamar Installation Manager may fail to connect to the Dell EMC Online Support website. An attacker could exploit this issue to impersonate the AVI service actions using the compromised credentials.
Overview
The vulnerability in Avamar Installation Manager in Dell EMC Avamar Server and Integrated Data Protection Appliance versions allows remote unauthenticated attackers to manipulate LDLS credentials, potentially leading to unauthorized access to Dell EMC Online Support.
Remediation
To mitigate this vulnerability, Dell EMC recommends updating to the latest available versions of Avamar Server and Integrated Data Protection Appliance. Additionally, users should review and secure the LDLS credentials to prevent unauthorized access.
