Overview
This vulnerability affects the Core component of Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning, a product within Oracle Supply Chain. The vulnerability is particularly dangerous because it requires no authentication and can be exploited remotely over HTTP. An attacker who successfully exploits this vulnerability can gain complete access to sensitive data within the application and can also create, modify, or delete critical information. The absence of any privilege requirements or user interaction makes this vulnerability particularly concerning for organizations using affected versions of the software.
Remediation
Organizations should apply the security patches provided by Oracle in the April 2021 Critical Patch Update (CPU). The following actions are recommended:
- Update Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning to the latest patched version as specified in the Oracle CPU documentation.
- If immediate patching is not possible, consider implementing network-level controls to restrict access to the affected systems.
- Monitor systems for suspicious activities that might indicate exploitation attempts.
- Implement the principle of least privilege for all users accessing the Oracle Supply Chain systems.
- Consider implementing web application firewalls with rules to detect and block potential exploitation attempts.
