Overview
This vulnerability in Wipro Holmes Orchestrator 20.4.1 stems from a lack of proper authentication controls on specific API endpoints. The affected APIs include processexecution/DownloadExcelFile/Domain_Credential_Report_Excel, processexecution/DownloadExcelFile/User_Report_Excel, processexecution/DownloadExcelFile/Process_Report_Excel, processexecution/DownloadExcelFile/Infrastructure_Report_Excel, and processexecution/DownloadExcelFile/Resolver_Report_Excel. An unauthenticated attacker can directly access these endpoints to download sensitive Excel reports containing confidential information. This represents a serious security risk as it could expose domain credentials and other sensitive organizational data to unauthorized parties.
Remediation
Organizations using Wipro Holmes Orchestrator 20.4.1 should:
- Update to the latest version of the software if a patched version is available
- Implement proper authentication checks for all API endpoints, especially those handling sensitive data
- Consider implementing additional security layers such as API gateways or web application firewalls to restrict access to these endpoints
- Audit all access logs to determine if unauthorized access has occurred
- Reset any credentials that may have been exposed through these reports
- Contact Wipro support for specific patch information if not already provided
