Description Preview

OroCRM, an open source Client Relationship Management application, contains a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability (CWE-352) in affected versions. This vulnerability allows attackers to disqualify any Lead in the system through a CSRF attack. When a victim with appropriate permissions accesses a malicious page, the attacker can trigger unauthorized lead disqualification actions without the victim's knowledge or consent. This vulnerability could significantly impact business operations by allowing unauthorized manipulation of critical customer data.

Overview

The vulnerability exists in OroCRM's lead management functionality, which fails to implement proper CSRF protections. An attacker can craft a malicious webpage that, when visited by an authenticated OroCRM user, sends a forged request to disqualify leads in the CRM system. This attack requires no special privileges beyond tricking a legitimate user with appropriate permissions into visiting a malicious page while they have an active session. The impact could be substantial for businesses relying on OroCRM, as it could result in potential leads being incorrectly disqualified, leading to lost business opportunities and requiring manual data recovery efforts.

Remediation

Users should immediately update to the latest version of OroCRM that contains the security fix for this vulnerability. No workarounds are available to address this vulnerability, making the update essential. Organizations should also implement general web security best practices including:

  • Implementing proper CSRF protections across all web applications
  • Training users to be cautious about clicking on suspicious links
  • Implementing Content Security Policy (CSP) headers
  • Considering the use of SameSite cookie attributes to limit cross-site request capabilities
  • Regularly reviewing access logs for suspicious activity
