Overview
The Sendinblue module for PrestaShop is a popular marketing tool integration that provides email marketing, SMS marketing, and other communication features. The vulnerability exists in the ajaxOrderTracking.php component, which fails to properly sanitize user inputs before incorporating them into SQL queries. This allows attackers to inject malicious SQL code that could be executed by the database server. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-89 (SQL Injection), which is a common and dangerous web application security flaw. Successful exploitation could allow attackers to access sensitive information, modify database contents, or potentially gain administrative access to the PrestaShop installation.
Remediation
Shop owners using the Sendinblue module should immediately update to version 4.0.16 or later, which contains the security patch for this vulnerability. If immediate updating is not possible, consider temporarily disabling the module until it can be updated. Additionally, implementing web application firewalls (WAF) and intrusion detection systems can help mitigate exploitation attempts. Regular security audits and database monitoring should be conducted to detect any potential unauthorized access. As a best practice, PrestaShop administrators should follow the principle of least privilege for database users and keep all modules updated to their latest versions.
