Description Preview

The Optima Express + MarketBoost IDX Plugin for WordPress contains a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in versions 7.3.0 and earlier. This vulnerability allows authenticated users with administrative privileges to inject malicious JavaScript code that gets stored on the server and executed in the browsers of other users who view the affected pages.

Overview

This vulnerability affects the ihomefinder Optima Express + MarketBoost IDX Plugin for WordPress in versions 7.3.0 and earlier. The plugin fails to properly sanitize or validate user input before storing it in the database and later displaying it to other users. As a result, an authenticated attacker with administrative privileges can inject malicious JavaScript code into the application, which will be executed when other users access the affected pages. This can lead to cookie theft, session hijacking, credential harvesting, or other client-side attacks against site visitors and administrators.

Remediation

Users of the affected plugin should update to the latest version as soon as it becomes available. If an update is not yet available, consider implementing the following temporary measures:

  1. Limit administrative access to trusted users only
  2. Implement Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to mitigate XSS attacks
  3. Consider temporarily disabling the plugin if it's not critical to site operations
  4. Monitor for suspicious activities in the admin area
  5. Regularly backup your WordPress site to enable quick recovery if needed
