Description Preview
Applications that utilize UriComponentsBuilder in Spring Framework to parse URLs provided externally, such as through query parameters, and subsequently conduct validation checks on the host of the parsed URL may be susceptible to open redirect attacks or SSRF if the URL is utilized after passing the validation checks. This vulnerability has a base severity rating of HIGH with a CVSS base score of 8.1.
Overview
This vulnerability affects versions of Spring Framework prior to 6.1.5, 6.0.18, and 5.3.33. It allows malicious actors to potentially redirect users to untrusted sites or perform SSRF attacks by manipulating the parsed URLs.
Remediation
To mitigate this vulnerability, it is recommended to update the affected Spring Framework versions to 6.1.5, 6.0.18, or 5.3.33 or later. Additionally, developers should review their code to ensure that externally provided URLs are properly validated and sanitized to prevent open redirect or SSRF attacks.
