Description Preview
The vulnerability in MobSF versions prior to 3.9.7 arises from the requests.get() request in the _check_url method being specified with allow_redirects=True. This configuration allows a server-side request forgery (SSRF) when a request to ".well-known/assetlinks.json" returns a 302 redirect. This vulnerability is a bypass of the fix for a previous CVE (CVE-2024-29190) and has been addressed in version 3.9.7.
Overview
The vulnerability in MobSF allows an attacker to perform SSRF by exploiting the way requests are handled in versions prior to 3.9.7. This could lead to unauthorized access to internal resources, information disclosure, or potential further attacks on the system.
Remediation
To remediate this vulnerability, users of MobSF should update their installations to version 3.9.7 or later. By upgrading to the fixed version, the issue with the requests.get() request configuration is resolved, preventing the SSRF bypass.
